Steam, guilded, and chromium have taken over the market and have no plans to stop. It is a political affair that have forced the consumer to utilize the services by making them superior to the human inferiority. The superior technology make it nearly impossible for them to function without them and thus they have gained control of the market. The consumers understand the risks of what they are doing. However, the services are necessary for the consumer to function and they have taken advantage of that fact. They have used it as a tool to gain control and manipulate the market to their own benefit. They understand that it is not the most ethical of practices but they are not concerned with the consequences. They will use their power to keep the consumer dependent on their services and continue to profit off of their need to use them. They realize that this is not necessarily the best decision for the consumer, but it is the best decision for them thus they don't care about the risks, they only care about their success.
