  • Sony's PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 offer limited freedom due to a variety of restrictions. These include a locked store with a limited library of games, a paid subscription for multiplayer access, regular firmware updates with more restrictions, the need to purchase games digitally, high costs for the console, difficulty repairing and replacing parts. Sony has created an environment in which consumers must purchase the right model to unlock the console's full potential and face surprise firmware updates with no easy way to roll back. The cost of the console can be prohibitively high, and there's no guarantee of quality or longevity. And with no physical discs, there's little room for trading games. Now they are forcing playing MMOs as the norm of their consoles. Sony has made it clear that they don't care about the consumer experience during PS2 and PS3. It is important to consider all factors before making a purchase decision.
